The Elgin Mount Pandim - Heritage Resort & Spa

A lovely period, heritage hotel in Pelling. After a long and 'interesting ' drive on the mountain roads we were great full to arrive at this little peaceful oasis. It's beautifully situated on the steep hill side, close to a number of interesting sites (walking distance) with lovely, well-tended gardens - beautifully manicured and perfect for enjoying afternoon tea. The lounge and bar area evoke the style of the 1930s/40s - perfect for relaxing with a g&t. The dining room though is bright and featureless - a disappointment. It's possible though to eat on the terrace away from the noise of the dining room (why do people want to share their video-calls with everyone?). It's not an intimate dining room - catering for families and groups. The food is fine - good selection and well prepared. But the menu is perhaps too big - trying to be too international. I'm not a fan of buffet food and I guess it's my fault for opting to try it...it was fine but I don't like some dishes being luke-warm nor others stirring through my food. Not all dishes claimed were available either. The bedroom (deluxe) was quite small, but adequate for a 2 night stay. It would benefit from some refurbishment, as could the bathroom. All dated rather than in keeping with period of the hotel. The bed, though very large, was also very hard and uncomfortable. The ensuite bathroom did need modernising. However I forgive these things in a hotel like this - i don't want my hotels to lack character. The staff, of course, were all fabulous and helpful!

Very wonderful stay at Elgin PELLING. The property is located at a very beautiful location with enchanting views of Mount Kanchenjunga. Our stay was made memorable by affectionate service of the staff lead by Bapan and his collegues. Can't wait to be back again. I wish them the very best.

Had heard a lot about the Elgin from family and the unique heritage experience it offers. Decided to drop in for lunch, rather a bit late. The colonial interiors were beautiful and as we stepped into the outdoor dining space, we were greeted by the Kanchenjunga range... it was a little cloudy but we still could make out the mountains. It was an amazing and well kept place. The gardens were flush with flowers in every hue and colour. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Food was superb and well presented. Be prepared for a wait for food nevertheless as everything is prepared only upon order. Once your order is taken, the staff goes into the kitchen and come back with an estimated time to serve. They start preparing once you give a conformation. We were given 40 mins which we accepted gladly. Just loved this as this was the first time we experienced this kind of service. Overall a very unique and pleasurable experience.
